No doubt a moronic question, but at least film-related. When I try to import a song or sound from a cd it tells me the format is not supported. Suggestions? Songs I've downloaded import fine.

you need to capture the track from the CD using
    audio grabber or something first.
One way to do it is to use windows sound recorder, and plug your headphone out socket to your microphone in socket.
You cant hear what you are recording of course, but it works to a fashion.
you then create a wav file, or an aif file that premier can understand.

If you have Soundforge, you can basically copy the CD Track digitally (I.e. Not a recording) and then save it as a WAV / MP3 / Whatever format you wish...

    I'm using Soundforge 5.1 (I think).

I am experiencing the same thing except reversed. I can import music fine from CDs, but if I downloaded them, they aren't supported. Where does one go about getting soundforge?

Thanks. I just cant beleive I have to buy a whole new program for this one simple task. Final Cut Pro was less finicky. Think I'll try Eddie's way.

You may not need Soundforge for what you're doing, although its a very powerful tool to have around. Winamp may suffice, and its totally free!

Some video editors will choke on MP3's because of the ID tags. There are two versions of the ID tag: the ID3v2 tag may be what's causing the problem. Open the MP3 file in Winamp, and the the file info for the track. De-select the ID3v1 and ID3v2 check boxes and close Winamp. Try importing the file into your editor again.
